BetRivers Poker's Unique Strategy: Targeting Smaller Markets for Big Gains
BetRivers Poker is currently the sole online poker operator in West Virginia and Delaware. The operator has created a four-state shared liquidity network, spanning Pennsylvania, Michigan, Delaware, and West Virginia. This network is expected to expand into New Jersey, making BetRivers the first online poker network in the US to span five states with shared liquidity.
BetRivers Poker has publicly expressed interest in launching in Maine, which legalized igaming earlier this year. The state has a population of only around 1.4 million, making it one of the smallest regulated markets in the US. Despite this, BetRivers sees potential in smaller jurisdictions, viewing online poker as an important part of its wider ecosystem. The operator believes that poker helps acquire customers, improve retention, and strengthen engagement across its platform.
This philosophy is reflected in BetRivers’ Rakeback Revolution program, which rewards players based on the amount of rake they generate. Although those rewards are earned through poker, they are designed to be used across the broader BetRivers platform, including casino and sports betting. In smaller jurisdictions, poker does not need to become a major revenue contributor to justify its existence. Instead, it can serve as a highly engaging product that attracts committed players, encourages them to stay within the platform, and ultimately contributes to growth across online casino. BetRivers Poker has grown regulated poker faster than any other U.S. operator by focusing on markets where liquidity, stability, and long-term player engagement matter more than headline size.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
