Berndsen12: 'I'm Confident I Have an Edge Against Izildur'
Sannder Berndsen, known as Berndsen12, has had a rollercoaster year in high-stakes poker. He won nearly $1,000,000 at the beginning of the year, but lost around $420,000 from January 13th. Berndsen12 played a high-stakes PLO game against a Swedish player, where he had a set of fours against his opponent's pair of nines and nut flush draw. The turn and river cards favored Berndsen12, and he won a quarter of a million dollars.
Berndsen12 started his poker career with No-Limit Hold'em, but switched to PLO because of the higher action and profits. He played high-stakes PLO against top players like Phil Galfond and Illya Illyushev (Izildur). Berndsen12 believes he has an advantage against Izildur because he uses similar strategies in both Hold'em and PLO. He thinks Phil Galfond is the strongest opponent he has faced, but he enjoys the challenge of playing against top players.
Berndsen12 plans to continue playing high-stakes games in February, but he criticizes the Dutch poker tax laws. He thinks it's unfair to pay taxes on losses, and he would prefer a system where taxes are only paid on winnings. He also thinks that the current system is not efficient for the government, as it discourages players from reporting their winnings accurately.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
