Benjamin Sulsky: The Poker Universalist and His Strategies

Benjamin Sulsky, a seasoned poker player, recently discussed his strategies and experiences during the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). Sulsky revealed that he played only 5-6 high-buy-in tournaments during the entire WCOOP period, focusing on maintaining his clarity of mind rather than pushing his limits.

Sulsky mentioned that he can play poker for 36-48 hours straight, but he chooses not to due to the spiritual cost. He believes that while pushing his limits can be beneficial in small doses, it becomes harmful over extended periods. Sulsky compared this to the intense concentration required for the SAT exam, stating that while it can be beneficial initially, prolonged exposure can be detrimental to one's mental health.

Sulsky considers himself a poker universalist, capable of playing various poker games. He has experience in mixed games, pot-limit Omaha, and other variations. Sulsky played a heads-up match against Doug Polk, which lasted approximately 750 hands. The match was initiated during a high-stakes tournament in Vegas, where Sulsky challenged Polk to a 50,000-hand match with the condition that Sulsky could end the match at any time, while Polk had to play until Sulsky stopped.
