Bellagio Cuts Rebuy Tournaments After Low Turnout
Bellagio, a renowned poker venue, has made significant changes to its tournament schedule following a disappointing turnout. The tournament director, Jack McClelland, admitted that the decision to increase the number of rebuy tournaments was a mistake. This admission came after the first tournament of the WPT series Five Star World Poker Classic 2010 attracted only 26 players, with a total of 37 rebuys.
The total prize pool for the first tournament was $61,110, with Rep Porter emerging as the winner, taking home $30,555. McClelland announced new changes to the schedule on April 1, which included reducing the number of rebuy tournaments and lowering the buy-in for some events. The new schedule features seven NLH tournaments with rebuys, five freezeouts, and other variations.
The changes aim to cater to a broader range of players, considering the economic situation. Additional daily tournaments with two rebuys will be held until April 14, but these will not be part of the series. The WPT Championship, with a buy-in of $25,000, will start on April 18 and conclude on April 24, with late registration available for the first eight levels.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
