Fedor Holz's Aussie Millions: High Stakes and Dramatic Finishes

The Aussie Millions tournament series has been a staple in the poker world since 1998. The first high roller tournaments with a $100,000 buy-in started in 2006, and the super high roller tournaments with a $250,000 buy-in began in 2011.

In 2014, the $100,000 tournament had 76 entries and the winner, Evgeny Timoshenko, took home $2,000,000. Phil Ivey won the $250,000 tournament three times from 2012 to 2015. However, the 2017 series faced difficulties due to a lack of VIP players, leading to the cancellation of the $250,000 tournament and its replacement with a $50,000 6-max tournament.

The $50,000 tournament started with Steven Chidwick, Ben Tolleren, Charlie Carrel, and Sam Greenwood. Fedor Holz and Nikita Bodiakovsky joined the tournament late. Fedor Holz finished in third place, while Nikita Bodiakovsky won the tournament with A$176,400. Charlie Carrel finished second with A$117,600.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
