Former NBA Star Antonio Burks Arrested for Illegal Poker Games at Home
Former NBA player Antonio Burks was arrested for organizing illegal underground poker games. Burks, who played for the Memphis Grizzlies, was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant at his home in July. During the search, police discovered two large poker tables, sets of chips, decks of cards, and an accounting book with lists of debtors.
One of the detainees admitted that illegal games were regularly held in the house. The police concluded that underground poker games were held in the house at least twice a week. The organization of such activities is illegal in the state of Tennessee, where there are no legal poker rooms.
Burks was released on a $1,000 bail and is now awaiting trial, scheduled for late August.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
