Andy Beal's High-Stakes Poker Heads-Up Attempt in Las Vegas
Andy Beal, a high-stakes poker enthusiast, found himself in a challenging situation while trying to arrange a heads-up poker game in Las Vegas. His desire to play one-on-one against top poker players led him to encounter various obstacles, including the interference of other players and the regulations of the Bellagio casino.
During a break in the game, Andy Beal met Jennifer Harman and suggested a heads-up game. However, Harman explained that it was impossible for them to play one-on-one due to the casino's policies. Beal then called Doug Dalton, the manager of the Bellagio poker club, to arrange a heads-up game. Dalton explained that he could not prevent other players from joining the table, as the casino had to follow certain laws.
Beal, determined to show his serious intentions, sent a transfer of several million dollars to Bellagio. Despite this, the casino's regulations and the interference of other players made it difficult for Beal to achieve his goal. Doyle Brunson, a renowned poker player, proposed a solution where multiple players would pool their money to play against Beal. Brunson contacted several high-stakes poker players, including Chip Reese, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, John Hennigan, Chau Giang, and David Grey, to arrange the game. The players agreed to pool $1,000,000 to play against Beal. However, the unexpected seating of Ted Forrest at the table disrupted the planned heads-up game.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
