Anatoliy Zyrin Secures Second Place in EPT Sochi Tournament
Anatoliy Zyrin, who won his largest career prize on the Merit Poker series in September, reached the final heads-up in the 1,000$ event at EPT Sochi. The event had 75 entries, forming a prize pool of 71,000$.
During the final table, Zyrin frequently proposed splitting the prize money, but his offers were ignored until the final two players remained: Zyrin and Alexander Paigusov. The two agreed to split the prize money, with Paigusov ultimately winning the event and the PokerStars peak.
Zyrin received 14,000$ for his second-place finish. This is not the first time Zyrin and Paigusov have faced each other in poker; Zyrin recalled playing with Paigusov in a home game with a 200-ruble buy-in about ten years ago. Zyrin credited Paigusov with introducing him to poker, stating that Paigusov was the first person in their company to start playing.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
