Ali Imisrovich: From Basketball Star to Top Poker Player
Ali Imisrovich was born in Bosnia but moved to the USA at the age of 3. His father, who was a successful businessman before the war, had to start from scratch after moving to Vancouver, Washington. He worked multiple jobs, including as a parking attendant and bartender, to support the family.
Imisrovich's journey into poker began at the age of 16 after a serious ankle injury ended his promising basketball career. He started playing poker after his father and friends often played the game. His first significant win came when he turned $60 into a larger amount in a tournament.
Imisrovich's rise in offline poker began after placing 4th in a CardPlayer Poker Tour event in December 2017. He won his first offline prize in a $1,500 tournament in Punta Cana, which marked a significant milestone in his career.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
