The Rise of TexasLimitKing: Alexandros Dalaklis' Poker Journey

In 2006, Full Tilt became the center of the most expensive online poker games, with notable players like Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, and Brian Townsend. A new player with the nickname TexasLimitKing appeared on the $500/1,000 and $1,000/2,000 limit hold'em tables and quickly started playing head-to-head matches against top players.

TexasLimitKing was speculated to be Erik Seidel, Patrik Antonius, or Andy Bloch, but it was later revealed that the player was Alexandros Dalaklis, a 19-year-old Swedish player of Greek origin living near Stockholm. Dalaklis, known as TexasLimitKing, won several million dollars playing against top players like Phil Ivey.

Dalaklis started playing poker after watching a WPT tournament on TV during a trip to England. He began his poker journey with a $20 no-deposit bonus on Pacific Poker and quickly turned it into several hundred dollars. Dalaklis preferred limit hold'em over no-limit hold'em, finding the former more strategic and nuanced. He played on multiple tables simultaneously, starting with $0.25/0.50 and eventually reaching $10/20 within six months.

Dalaklis played against a variety of opponents, including professionals and weaker players, and adapted his strategy accordingly. He eventually reached the $300/600 limit, where he faced strong opposition from players like Tor "Lager" Lagerborg. Dalaklis' success allowed him to buy his own apartment near his parents' home. Dalaklis attributed his success to his skill and ability to focus completely on the game, avoiding distractions.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
