Aleksey Filhjg Shares Insights from His Poker Journey on GipsyTeam Forum

Aleksey Filhjg, a Moscow-based poker player, shares his experiences and insights from grinding micro-limits. He runs a blog titled 'Микролимиты с Filhjg' on the GipsyTeam forum, where he discusses his journey and offers advice to other players.

Filhjg focuses on grinding micro-limits in poker, citing his personality traits and aversion to significant losses. He compares this monotonous task to agricultural work, lacking ambition and intellectual stimulation. "This is a full-blown mess," he says. "It's monotonous, mind-numbing work with no aspirations or flights of fancy. The closest analogy is working as a farmer in a collective farm."

He advises that people should understand their true potential and avoid false goals. "Increasing your effectiveness is not about motivation training (where you have to motivate yourself to become Roy Jones Jr., and then after the training, you get beaten up by anyone and everyone on the ring)," he writes. "It's about understanding your true calling, how to use yourself correctly, avoiding false goals, what you really are, your abilities, and their real level."

Filhjg also shares his views on life experiences and personal growth. He suggests that marriage and parenthood are more meaningful after the age of 35-40, when one has gained life experience. "When a person starts to understand something around the age of 35-40: how to change, where they behaved badly, what was mean, what was worthy, what not to neglect and what to strive for – they can no longer change much," he explains. "They become inflexible, trapped in the framework of habits, circumstances, and often material affairs."

In addition to his personal insights, Filhjg completed a $2,000 marathon on NL5 over 31 days. He aimed to inspire micro-limit players and add excitement to their routine. "I propose to slightly lower the degree of praise towards me," he writes. "It's nice that you cheer for me, but it's obvious that my marathon was nowhere near as complex or beneficial as the phenomenal marathon of FREEQ or the charitable marathon of Rомеопро and others."

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
