VPIP in poker
Definition
Voluntarily Put money In Pot: the percentage of hands in which a player puts chips in before the flop by choice.
The big blind posted by force does not count. A tight player has a VPIP of about 15% to 20% at a full table, while loose players go above 30%.
VPIP together with PFR gives a quick profile of an opponent: a big gap between them means a passive player who calls a lot.
