Pocket pair in poker
Definition
Two hole cards of the same rank, such as 7♥7♠ or A♦A♣.
Pocket pairs are strong before the flop and improve to three of a kind (a set) about 12% of the time on the flop. Small pairs mostly play for sets, while big pairs play for value.
Pocket aces are called pocket rockets and pocket kings are called cowboys, among other nicknames.
