Hands and boards
Made hand in poker
Definition
A hand that already has a showdown value, such as a pair or better, as opposed to a draw.
A made hand wins at showdown without improving, though how strong it is depends on the board. Strategy separates hands into made hands, draws and air, and plays each type differently.
A made hand that is vulnerable to draws usually wants to bet to charge them; a medium-strength hand may prefer to check and keep the pot small.
