Open-ended straight draw (OESD) in poker
Definition
Four consecutive cards that can become a straight with a card on either end; it has eight outs.
An open-ended straight draw such as 8-9-10-J completes with any seven or queen, eight cards in total. That gives about 31.5% to hit by the river and about 17.4% on the next card.
It is weaker than a flush draw because it has fewer outs, but it is easy to disguise and still makes a good semi-bluff hand.
