MTT (multi-table tournament) in poker
Definition
A tournament with many players spread over several tables, which merge as players are eliminated until a winner remains.
Players pay a buy-in for a starting stack of chips and play until they run out. Blinds rise on a schedule, forcing the action, and prizes are paid to the top part of the field.
MTTs have high variance and top-heavy payouts: the winner often takes a large share, so results vary a lot from event to event.
