Online Poker Declines While WSOPE Aims for Record Numbers in Cannes
PokerScout reported that the online poker boom has ended, with a 7% drop in activity this fall. The decline is attributed to market saturation and poker falling out of fashion. PokerScout noted that the online poker market has reached a peak and is now seeing a decline in new players.
The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) 2011 will be held in Cannes, France, with over 70 tables. Seth Palkansky, the PR director of World Series of Poker, expects the largest series in WSOPE history. The main event of WSOPE 2011 is scheduled for October 15th with a buy-in of €10,400.
Palkansky highlighted that the venue in Cannes can accommodate twice as many players as the previous London location, which could only hold 35 tables. The decision to move to Cannes was influenced by the city's tourist attractions, including great restaurants, shops, and views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
