WSOP Players React to Mid-Tournament Structure Changes and Share Highlights
WSOP players have expressed frustration and confusion over recent mid-tournament structure changes. The organizers of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) changed the structure of the Secret Bounty tournament mid-game, causing significant confusion among players. Chris Brewer, a prominent player, voiced his frustration, stating that the new structure favors large stacks and disadvantages short stacks. Isaac Haxton criticized the decision, comparing it to changing the payout structure during a tournament.
Dylan Linde mentioned that the changes affected his play in two hands. The bounty hunt started from the beginning of the second day but ended before the money. Arthur Martirosyan won $100k in the bounty hunt. Wesley Flax played a notable hand against Daniel Cates, pushing all-in with a top pair on the river. Daniel Cates is participating in the $50,000 Players Championship, which he won in 2021 and 2022. Cates is known for his distinctive outfits at the WSOP.
Jans Ahrends, the winner of the $100k tournament, mentioned that his friend Kessler did not show up for his victory photo. Kevin Martin witnessed a unique hand where four players had pocket pairs, and the ladies made a set on the flop. Victor Blom, known as Izildur, is playing primarily limit games at the WSOP. Patrick Leonard shared a peculiar hand from a $2k tournament where he raised pre-flop and the action unfolded unusually. Niall Farrell shared his day's events, including failing to win a bounty and changing stakes in a $2k tournament. Maria Ho won $1,000 after bluffing in a $3,000 6-max tournament.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
