WSOP Main Event Suspended Due to Terrorism Threat
The Main Event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, with a buy-in of $10,000, has already gathered 523 entries. The event was temporarily suspended due to a police operation involving a suspect with a suspicious item in their car.
During the suspension, a poker player on Twitter described seeing five people in plainclothes arresting a man with a WSOP lanyard during a break in the Main Event. The player noted that the man's pockets were emptied during the arrest, but it was unclear if he was a casino employee or why he was arrested.
Outside the casino, people began posting videos of the police cordon, with some unable to reach their cars. The police later explained the situation to the players, stating that they were pursuing a suspect unrelated to the WSOP. The suspect's car contained a 'suspicious item,' leading to a two-hour search of the casino area. Eventually, the situation normalized, and people were allowed to enter and exit, but no further details were provided.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
