WSOP Main Event: Brutal First-Hand Exits Shock Players
The World Series of Poker Main Event has seen dramatic exits in the first hand, with players facing off against high-stakes confrontations. Scott Fitzhugh tweeted about a dramatic first hand showdown where a player with aces faced off against a player with kings.
Israeli player Idan the One faced Ruben Correia's pocket aces twice in one session during the opening flight of this year's Main Event. Idan the One was playing the opening flight of this year’s Main Event but ran into Portuguese player Ruben Correia’s pocket aces - not once but twice! Correia’s aces held up first time around, and then he got them again, this time raising the cutoff against two limpers.
Last year, Dennis Brand was eliminated just 15 minutes into play when his kings lost to Marc Goone's aces. Mikolaj Zawadski lost his Main Event life on the very first hand when his set of eights lost to Jamie Smith's set of queens.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
