WSOP Main Event Shatters Entry Record with 9,350 Players

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event has made history by surpassing the previous record for the number of entries, with 9,350 participants across four starting flights. The previous record was set in 2006 with 8,773 entries, when Jamie Gold won the event.

Jamie Gold himself wanted the record to be broken this year. The 2023 WSOP Main Event saw a 16% increase in entries on Day 1a and a 25% increase on Day 1b compared to last year. Day 1c saw a 65.59% increase in entries, and Day 1d saw a 24.44% increase compared to last year.

Some of the biggest names in poker, including Koray Aldemir, Hossein Ensan, Erik Seidel, Vanessa Selbst, Maria Ho, Billy Baxter, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, and Martin Kabrhel, have already been eliminated from the 2023 WSOP Main Event. Former champions such as Chris Moneymaker, Jamie Gold, Joe Cada, Martin Jacobsen, Damian Salas, Joe McKeehen, Greg Raymer, Johnny Chan, Ryan Riess, Scott Blumstein, Espen Jorstad, Tom McEvoy, Phil Hellmuth, Qui Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Scotty Nguyen, Doug Polk, Patrik Antonius, and Daniel Negreanu are still in the running.
