WSOP Dealer Allows Player to Give Chips to Another, Causing Controversy
In a surprising turn of events, an inexperienced dealer at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2021 allowed a player to give their chips to the chip leader at their table. The player with the shortest stack at the table wanted to give their chips to the chip leader, causing another player to complain.
The dealer asked other players at the table if they agreed to the chip transfer, and one player called for a manager. The chip leader proposed to split the stack proportionally among the remaining players, but was refused.
The player who wanted to give away their chips was disqualified from the tournament, and the dealer received a reprimand. Mike Brady, a poker player and deputy of Douglas Polk at Upswing Poker, shared the story on his Twitter page. Some sources report that only half of the dealer staff is working at Caesars Entertainment due to vaccination requirements.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
