William Hill Faces Fine for False Statistics Reported to UK Gambling Commission
William Hill, a popular London-based sports book, may face a fine after providing false statistics to the UK Gambling Commission regarding online gambling and lockdowns. The Gambling Commission has published detailed statistics regarding the risks of lockdowns for those with gambling addictions. William Hill informed the Commission that the data they supplied between March 2020 and September 2021 contained incorrect data points.
The Commission has the authority to suspend or revoke the license of a company like William Hill, but harsh actions are usually reserved for more severe violations. William Hill was previously fined £3 million by the UK Gambling Commission for systemic failings to address measures related to preventing money laundering and instilling a safer gambling environment.
William Hill is currently in the process of a $2.2 billion sale with 888 Holdings in London. The UK government is set to make new proposals to the regulation of gambling in the spring. William Hill is one of two gambling platforms facing a penalty so far this year.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
