WCOOP 2021: $100 Million Guarantee and 225 Tournaments Await
The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is set to begin on August 22nd and run until September 15th, 2021. This year's event will offer a record-breaking $100 million guarantee across 225 tournaments, marking a significant increase from last year's $80 million guarantee.
The inaugural WCOOP series in 2002 featured nine events with a combined prize pool of over $730,000. The Main Event winner that year was Sweden’s Multimarine, who took home a top prize of $65,450. In contrast, the 2020 WCOOP saw 75 events in each of three buy-in bands, with Netherlands player PTFisherman23 winning $1,147,270 in the $10 million GTD Main Event.
The 2021 WCOOP is being held earlier to avoid a clash with the World Series of Poker (WSOP). With the exact details of events, buy-ins and dates planned to be released in the next few weeks, poker enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the latest updates on this prestigious online series.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
