The Rise of Isildur1: Viktor Blom's Early Poker Career
Viktor Blom, known as Isildur1, started his poker career at the age of 13, learning the rules from his brother. He and his friends played poker tournaments with buy-ins ranging from 20 to 50 kronor. One notable tournament had 25 participants with a buy-in of 50 kronor, which Blom won.
Blom and his brother deposited $100 on a poker site and finished fifth in a $11 tournament with 700 players, winning around $300. This early success fueled their interest in the game. Blom registered the nickname Blom90, caught an upswing, and moved to turbo SNG on long tables for $530.
In January 2009, a forum post revealed that Blom90 had risen from $2,000 to $1.4 million in poker. Blom confirmed that he had indeed risen from $2,000 to $1.3 million. He mentioned that he and his friends made bets on tennis and street football, with stakes increasing over time. Blom revealed that he had $300,000 after a series of upswings but then lost it all.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
