UK Gambling Commission Hands Out Multi-Million Pound Fines to Two Gambling Companies
The UK Gambling Commission has recently imposed significant fines on two gambling companies for failing to adhere to responsible gambling standards. Caesars Entertainment was fined 13 million pounds for allowing a customer to lose 240,000 pounds over 13 months despite the customer's self-exclusion. Additionally, the company permitted another customer to lose 323,000 pounds in a year.
Betway was also fined 11.6 million pounds for similar violations. The UK Gambling Commission donated 9 million pounds from these fines to GambleAware, a charity dedicated to preventing and treating gambling addiction.
Mark Etches, the CEO of GambleAware, expressed gratitude for the funds, stating that they will enhance the safety of the National Gambling Treatment Service and protect individuals from gambling-related harm. GVC Holdings, another notable donor, contributed nearly 1.5 million pounds to GambleAware.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
