Poker Expert TylerRM Shares Insights on Stack Sizes and Win Rates
TylerRM, a specialist in MTT and the most active author of educational content in Russian, shared his insights on stack sizes and win rates during a discussion on the GipsyTeam forum. TylerRM's first day of knowledge was spontaneous and occurred during a serious downswing in April 2014.
TylerRM believes that the 0-10 bb stack size is one of the most profitable on all limits, especially at lower levels. He suggests that the 11-15 bb stack size brings the least amount of money on the distance. For stacks of 16-25 bb and higher, the win rate increases with the stack size. TylerRM advises that if the win rate is higher than 3 bb/100 on ante, everything is generally fine. He suggests that the maximum win rate ceiling is around 7-8 bb/100 on ante.
In the 0-10 bb stack size, players push into 100% spectra, and people refuse calls according to Nash in borderline spots. In the 11-15 bb stack size, players push into spectra that people open, and people open on average not as widely as commonly thought. TylerRM advises that in any Nash calculator, you can see which spectra you should open with a mini-raise from the perspective of optimal play. If you get a call, the effective stack in most cases will be equal to 2.5 banks, which is an argument for playing them approximately as 4-bet pots.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
