Tom Dwan Shares Insights on Poker Strategies and Future Trends

Tom Dwan, a renowned poker player, participated in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, where he shared his insights on various aspects of the game. One of the notable discussions was about a significant bluff he made against Phil Ivey during the High Stakes Poker season 6. Dwan mentioned that he often bluffs with AA/AK and any two pairs.

During the AMA, Dwan also discussed the challenges he faced due to bright lights during a TV broadcast, which affected his performance. He advised having a sufficient bankroll for higher stakes games, stating that for NL200, 50 buy-ins are needed, and for NL5k, 100 buy-ins are required. He also mentioned that he rarely sells portions of his action in televised games.

Dwan shared his experiences transitioning from online to offline poker, highlighting the challenges of taking time to think in offline games. He also discussed a bluff he made against JC Tran in the UK Premier League Poker. Looking ahead, Dwan predicted that the total amount won by plus players in 2013 would be higher than in previous years.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
