Tom Dwan: 'Notice Your Mistakes, But Don't Fear Them'
Tom Dwan, a prominent figure in the poker world, recently sat down for an interview with Lee Davy on the channel of Paul Foua. The interview provided a rare glimpse into Dwan's thoughts on his career and personal philosophy.
Dwan, known for his unconventional approach to rules, shared that he enjoys playing in Montenegro, comparing it favorably to London and Vegas. He mentioned that the ability to step outside after a session and enjoy the views and beach is a significant draw for him.
Reflecting on his early days, Dwan recalled that in his last year of school, he played NL50 and won $10-15k by the start of summer. He also mentioned that he started playing online poker and grew his bankroll from $50 to $15k in half a year. Dwan's unique approach to education and rules was evident in his decision to enroll in Boston University but struggle with classes he found uninteresting. He played NL400 during the summer and won around 300 buy-ins, which led him to focus more on poker.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
