Poker Pro Sergey Ribachenko: High Living Despite Financial Struggles
In September 2016, renowned poker player Sergey "Gipsy" Ribachenko revealed that he was left without means of subsistence and in debt. However, he expressed readiness to start over again. Ribachenko and his wife Alexandra Usoltseva moved to Latvia and obtained a residence permit, which opened up many opportunities for them, including traveling through Europe without needing to obtain visas.
Despite the financial struggles, Ribachenko maintains a high standard of living. He expressed gratitude to his friends who helped them survive a six-month period when they had no money at all. With the residence permit, some stability has returned, and Ribachenko is confident that things will get easier.
Ribachenko continues to play poker, often seen at PokerDom tables, but his main interest now is the football club Rigas Futbola Skola, which he is deeply involved in. He hopes to improve his financial situation and settle his debts within this year.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
