Poker Pro Scott 'Sorel' Mitzell Accused of Cheating Again
Scott 'Sorel' Mitzell, a professional poker player, has once again found himself at the center of a cheating controversy. This time, the allegations come from John Racener and Sean Deeb during the PCA 2011. Sean Deeb accused Sorel of cheating against John Racener in a game of Chinese poker. Deeb revealed that John Racener noticed Sorel not shuffling the bottom two cards and dealing himself a joker card.
Sorel claimed that he was not cheating and blamed his actions on medication and personal issues. He posted a lengthy response on 2+2 forum defending his actions and expressing frustration with his reputation. In his response, Sorel detailed the events leading up to the accusation, including the rules of the game and the interactions between him and Racener.
This is not the first time Sorel has been involved in a controversy. In 2007, he played a major online tournament for his friend Chris Vona, who won first place, but the winnings were confiscated due to cheating allegations. Sorel's ban from Full Tilt ended in late 2010, allowing him to participate in FTOPS tournaments again. In October 2008, Sorel's PokerStars account zangbezan24 was blocked due to suspected multi-accounting.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
