Sammy the Bull Gravano: The Poker Cheaters Who Got Lucky
Salvatore 'Sammy the Bull' Gravano, a notorious American gangster, was a key figure in one of the largest mafia clans in the early 90s. He started cooperating with the U.S. government, which led to the imprisonment of the entire mafia leadership. Gravano was released from prison in September 2017, although he was scheduled to be released in March 2019.
Gravano has started a YouTube channel where he shares stories from his turbulent youth. One of his videos is dedicated to a short poker session. He recounts a story where he caught two cheaters in a poker game at a club on 18th Avenue. The incident occurred when Gravano was still working for the Colombo family, before his issues with other mafia clans began.
Gravano threatened the cheaters, forcing them to work for him to pay off their debt. He mentions that the cheaters were not bad people, just professional card sharks. Gravano reflects on the harsh realities and codes of conduct within the mafia, comparing them to soldiers and politicians.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
