Sam Greenwood on Triton Million: Some Solver Decisions Defy Logic
Poker player Sam Greenwood was a guest on the 30th episode of The Grid podcast hosted by Jennifer Shahade. Greenwood recalled a notable hand from the Triton Million tournament, where he played against Martin Kabrhel on the second day of the £1,000,000 event in London.
The hand involved Greenwood's KTs against Kabrhel's KQo. Greenwood discussed his pre-flop and post-flop strategies, noting that some solver decisions were counterintuitive. He explained that while some solver recommendations made sense, others seemed illogical or hard to understand intuitively.
Greenwood detailed the hand, which took place on the second day of the tournament with blinds at 10k/25k/25k. He opened with a raise of 60k from the lojack position, and Kabrhel three-bet to 200k. Greenwood called, and on the flop, he checked while Kabrhel bet 175k into a 460k pot. Greenwood called again. Both players checked the turn, and on the river, Greenwood turned his hand into a bluff by betting 700k into an 810k pot. The hand was broadcast live, and it was quickly revealed that Kabrhel had folded KQo.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
