Russian State Duma Changes Tax Law for Casino Winnings
The Russian State Duma has changed the tax calculation method for casino winnings. Now, the tax will be based on the difference between the winnings and the amount spent on chips, a system already in place in many civilized countries. This new law is seen as a significant improvement, making it easier for players to handle their winnings legally.
The new tax law in Russia will apply to the net profit at the end of the year, with a tax rate of 13%. This means that players will only pay taxes on their actual profits, not the total winnings. Foreigners are not obligated to pay taxes on their winnings in Russia, adding to the appeal of the new legislation.
Chris Moneymaker is traveling to Russia to distribute platinum packages as part of the Moneymaker PSPC Tour. The tour will be held in Sochi from October 11, with plans to conduct eight stages this season, five of which will take place in Europe.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
