Russian Poker Players Shine in FTOPS Series
Russian poker players have made a significant impact in the FTOPS series, with two notable achievements by MagicGog and Alexander 'PostflopAction' Kostritsin.
MagicGog, a player from St. Petersburg, finished second in the FTOPS #9 tournament. This event had a buy-in of $322 and attracted 4,192 participants. MagicGog's journey was marked by a crucial hand where he defended his big blind with Kd Js against a superior stack from the small blind. The flop showed Kh Jd 5s, giving him two pairs, which allowed him to call a 2/3 bank continuation bet from his opponent.
In the final hand, MagicGog faced off against betrthanphil. MagicGog went all-in with As Ks on the flop, which had two spades, one of which was a three. Unfortunately, the flush did not close, and betrthanphil won with Ad 3c. Despite the loss, MagicGog's performance was impressive, earning him $141,791. Additionally, Alexander 'PostflopAction' Kostritsin won the FTOPS-10 tournament with a buy-in of $216, securing a first prize of $47,475. Kostritsin outmaneuvered 965 opponents in this pot-limit Omaha Hi-Lo event.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
