Russian Poker Stars Shine at EPT London: Notable Achievements and Close Calls

Russian poker players made a significant impact at the EPT London tournament, with standout performances from several notable players. Ivan Demidov finished fourth in a side event with a buy-in of 1,500 + 100£, with approximately 140 participants. Unfortunately, the tournament structure was not ideal, and Demidov entered the final day with a below-average stack of 37,000 chips, facing blinds of 1,000/2,000. The final table saw all players with stacks of only 10-15 big blinds. In the final hand, Demidov went all-in with Ax Tx and lost to 9x 9x, securing fourth place and 16,400£.

Ilya Gorodeckiy secured third place in a side event with a buy-in of 2,500 + 200£, with 147 participants. Gorodeckiy started the second day with an average stack and made a series of successful re-raises to strengthen his position. He won a crucial all-in hand with As Ks against Kd Jc, catching a turn ace. At the final table, Gorodeckiy eliminated an opponent with a larger stack, winning an all-in with Ax Ax against Tx Tx. He became the chip leader and, with aggressive play, forced an opponent to go all-in with Qx 9x, to which Gorodeckiy responded with a quick call with Tx Tx. However, he was eventually eliminated in third place, earning 39,200£.

Lika Gerasimova had a successful run in the main EPT tournament but was eliminated shortly after entering the prize zone. Nikolay Evdakov took second place in an 8-game tournament. Konstantin Puchkov advanced the furthest among Russians in the main tournament, finishing around 70th place.
