Polymarket Takes Dutch Gambling Authority to Court Over Ban
Polymarket, a prediction market platform, has taken the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) to court, filing a complaint in The Hague to overturn the ban against its services in the Netherlands. The platform argues that its event contracts are financial products, not gambling products, as contended by the KSA.
The main point of contention is the interpretation of what event contracts are. The KSA maintains that these contracts are games of chance, while Polymarket argues that they are financial products, similar to its operations in the United States. The KSA issued a fine of up to €840,000 for non-compliance with the ban, adding to Polymarket's challenges in the region.
Some lawmakers have proposed regulating prediction markets, but these efforts have so far been unsuccessful. Polymarket continues to contest the ban, awaiting its day in court to argue its case.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
