PokerStars Accused of Misleading Clients Over Rake Increase

PokerStars, one of the leading online poker platforms, has recently announced a significant increase in rake for many game disciplines. The change, effective from March 21, has sparked controversy among players who feel misled by the company's PR tactics.

In an attempt to soften the impact of the rake increase, the PR department of PokerStars published a diagram titled 'Comparison with competitors.' The diagram, intended to show that PokerStars' rake remains lower than that of its competitors, has been criticized for using misleading data.

Professional poker player David Vamplew was among those who voiced their concerns. In a blog post, Vamplew accused PokerStars of using 'inaccurately compared data' to deceive their clients. He pointed out several issues with the diagram, including the absence of pre-increase rake data for PokerStars and the exclusion of rakeback from the comparison.
