PokerStars Celebrates 10 Years with Massive Promotions and Events
PokerStars, the world's largest poker room, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of unprecedented promotions and events. The first player sat down at a PokerStars table in September 2001, and the first real-money game appeared in December of the same year.
The first version of PokerStars software was developed by Canadian IBM programmer Isai Scheinberg, who founded Rational Enterprises in the late 1990s and fully transitioned to online poker. Isai Scheinberg and his sons, including Mark Scheinberg, continue to manage PokerStars, with the family owning 75% of the company and the remaining 25% owned by employees.
To mark the occasion, PokerStars is giving away 100 packages for the PCA PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, each worth over $15,000. The PCA 2012 main tournament entry fee is $10,000, with accommodation in a luxury hotel and additional expenses covered. Additionally, the 10th anniversary Sunday Million tournament on December 18 will have a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000, with the winner receiving $2,000,000. The entry fee for the Sunday Million remains $215.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
