Poker Pros James Romero and Grazvis1 Scammed in $20k Identity Swap
Two high-stakes poker players, James Romero and Grazvis1, were duped in a clever identity swap scam, resulting in a $20,000 loss. The scammer impersonated both players, convincing each that he was the other.
Grazvis1, whose forum nickname is Grazvydas, posted in a Skype group that he had Stars/ACR and wanted Natural8, with a $20,000 minimum. James Romero posted in the same group that he had $60,000 Luxon, wanted BTC, with a $5,000 minimum.
Grazvis1 was out of pocket by $20,000 and took to 2plus2 to get the community’s thoughts on who should take the hit. James Romero initially refused to take responsibility for the scam, stating he had given a lot of time to the situation and had multiple projects. Romero eventually agreed to split the $20,000 hit but Grazvis1 wanted an apology as well.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
