Poker Pros Debate 'Tanking' and Its Impact on Tournament Structure

Professional poker players have been engaged in a heated debate about the practice of 'tanking'—the excessive thinking time taken during games. Daniel Negreanu participated in a Twitter discussion about the duration of levels in WPT final tables, highlighting the financial and structural impacts of this practice.

Jordan Cristos is known for his extensive thinking time during poker games, a practice known as 'tanking'. Negreanu argues that while skill is important to reach the final table, the structure of the game can affect the outcome. Negreanu mentions that television coverage costs for tournaments can be very high, especially with overtime.

Negreanu believes that excessive 'tanking' can negatively impact the structure of the tournament and the community. Ilya Gorodecky shared an experience where a dealer reminded him of the time limit during a tournament, adding to the discussion on the importance of adhering to time constraints.
