Poker Player Shows Card to Opponent and Loses Big
In a surprising turn of events, Bitcoin Yoda, a participant in a cash game at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, showed one of his cards to his opponent, Eric Hicks, and lost a pot of 13,000 big blinds.
The hand was played with a straddle, and by the river, there were already 3,000 blinds in the pot. On the board Ad 5d 2c Kd 4s, Bitcoin Yoda bet 2/3 of the pot – $10,000. Eric Hicks raised to $25,000 after seeing Bitcoin Yoda's 3s, and Yoda called with 4c 3s, losing to Hicks' flush 7d 6d.
In another poker incident, a player in Casino Del Sol, Tucson, Arizona, lost a bad beat jackpot despite having a set of nines. The winner of the hand received $4,500, the player with tens received $9,000, and the player with nines received only $665. The victim of the double bad beat was 37-year-old R. J. Bergman, a program director for the Young Christian Association.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
