Poker Player's Confession: 'I Lost $180k to Gambling Addiction'
In April 2018, a user named d2_e4 started a thread titled 'I am a degenerate – lost 180k in MTTs on Stars – ask me anything' on the TwoPlusTwo forum. He revealed that he was in a significant loss of $180k on PokerStars, primarily from Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs).
d2_e4 mentioned that he earns around $1,000 per day, but a significant portion of this income is lost to gambling. He admitted to playing poker while intoxicated, which affects his performance negatively. He stated that he plays poker daily and does not believe in any plus games for himself.
He mentioned that he has a gambling addiction, which includes poker, pool, and sometimes casino games. d2_e4 revealed that he has a history of playing high-stakes tournaments, including the Thursday Thrill and Super Tuesday. He shared that he often plays poker while intoxicated, which includes alcohol and smoking. d2_e4 mentioned that he does not play poker for slow and steady earnings, but for the thrill of a big win.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
