Poker Player Calls Owen Prodigy's Bluff in Epic Showdown

A poker player recently shared an exciting hand where he called a bluff by Owen Prodigy. The game was $15/$30, and the player opened and called a 3-bet.

On the flop, Owen overbet, and the player called. On the turn, Owen bet half the pot, and the player called again. On the river, Owen bet 25% of the pot, and the player called. The player had AQ and felt it had enough equity against Owen's range.

The player mentioned that Owen might have been representing hands like 99 or TT. The player discussed four other hands to illustrate his reads on Owen. In one hand, the player called a block bet on the river, and Owen showed a bluff. In another hand, the player made a block bet on the turn, and Owen raised. In a third hand, the player made a block bet on the river, and Owen pushed all-in. In the fourth hand, Owen pushed all-in on the river, and the player called with AQ.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
