Poker Player's Battle Against Bots on Ignition Network

Jb` started a blog titled 'Humanity's Last Hope Against Machine Cheats: NL500+' on the TwoPlusTwo forums, detailing his experience playing against bots on the Ignition network. The player's strategy involved grinding NL500-1k on Ignition and planned to move to NL2k in September. The player found that 90% of their expected value came from playing against bots, which had obvious tells. The player started playing on Ignition in mid-April and grinded throughout June, encountering 1-2 bots per table. The player mentioned that some accounts seemed to be part of a bot network, exhibiting similar behaviors and strategies.

Patrick Howard, founder of Mobius Poker, discussed the prevalence of bots in Ignition in a podcast. He noted that bots are common across all limits and sometimes exhibit strange behaviors, such as using up their time bank before folding. Howard also mentioned instances where multiple accounts seemed to be colluding and sharing cards, suggesting that this behavior might be built into the bot software.

The player's blog provides a detailed account of his strategies and experiences, including examples of hands played against bots and other players. He also discusses the challenges of distinguishing between real players and bots, as well as the ethical implications of exploiting bot weaknesses. The player's insights offer a unique perspective on the state of online poker and the challenges faced by honest players.
