Poker Insurance: A New Era for Cash Game Players

The world of poker is evolving rapidly, and the latest innovation comes in the form of insurance for cash game players. InsuredPlay has launched a beta public phase for a new insurance option that allows players to purchase insurance before a hand where they have an advantage in the river and go all-in. If they hold their advantage, they pay the insurance. If they lose, the insurance covers the pot.

The PartyPoker Premier League V is set to conclude tonight, with the finalists vying for a $500,000 prize and a $25,000 seat for the WPT Championship in May at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The finalists include Mathew Frankland, Daniel Cates, Sam Trickett, Patrik Antonius, Tony G, Scott Seiver, Phil Laak, and Tom Dwan. Notably absent from the final is Tomeu Gomila “Amatos,” who did not make it to the final.

In other news, Kevin Vandersmissen emerged victorious at the Irish Poker Open 2012, securing €420,000. The tournament featured 502 players, with Thomas Beer as the runner-up. Vandersmissen's win highlights the intense competition and high stakes in the poker world.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
