Poker Industry Thrives Online Amid Pandemic: 2020 in Review

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly boosted the online poker industry. GG Network saw a threefold increase in online traffic, with an average of 4,500 players in January 2021 compared to 1,550 in January 2020.

iPoker gained significant growth after the closure of Microgaming, with around ten rooms, including RedStar, BestPoker, and Optibet, joining the network. This growth allowed iPoker to reach the seventh position in terms of cash game traffic, behind Stars, Winamax, partypoker, and GG.

Mobile applications like PPPoker, PokerBros, and Upoker saw a surge in players, with some tournaments offering guarantees up to $1,000,000. However, the Multi-Table Tournament (MTT) situation is different: while individual tournament guarantees can reach $1,000,000, organizing a full session of 20-30 tournaments is only possible at low Average Buy-In (ABI) levels, requiring multiple accounts in different clubs.
