PLON Rising: A New Era for Women in Poker
PLON Rising is a new project by a women's organization aiming to attract girls aged 18-29 to poker. The founder of the project, Lena Evans, has an ambitious goal to increase the number of women in poker by more than 5% of the total number of players.
Only 4% of the 7,000 players at the Main Event WSOP were women. This statistic highlights the gender imbalance in the poker community, which PLON Rising aims to address.
Among the well-known trainers in PLON Rising are Maria Ho, Maria Konnikova, and Barbara Enright. Barbara Enright is notable for being the only woman to have reached the final table of the WSOP. Additionally, Nahreen Malano Tamer, who won a WSOP bracelet in the online version of the festival, is also part of the organization. Amanda Bortfeld, the company's ambassador, shared that poker has given her the opportunity to express herself. She encourages young women to learn the game, emphasizing that they may not know their own strength.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
