Phil Ivey Reveals His Poker Journey and Insights in a Podcast
Phil Ivey, a legendary poker player, recently shared his journey and insights in a podcast interview. Ivey started his poker career at the age of 15, playing under the name Jerome Graham at the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City.
Ivey was nicknamed 'No Home Jerome' because he sometimes had to sleep on the street after missing the last bus home. He learned the rules of poker from his grandfather at the age of 7. Ivey mentioned that he used to play street games like craps and Celos with his friends.
Ivey revealed that he was inspired by Daniel Negreanu's aggressive playing style, which led him to change his own strategy. He prefers to play with his own money rather than seeking backing.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
