Phil Ivey Shares His Favorite Movie, Book, and More

Phil Ivey, one of the most renowned poker players, recently shared his thoughts on various topics, including his favorite movie, book, and song. When asked about his favorite film to watch during a long flight, Ivey chose Rounders. He explained that the movie's soundtrack and dialogue, such as the line "It's time to play the cards," set the perfect mood for a long poker trip.

If stranded on a deserted island, Ivey would bring The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz. The book outlines four key agreements: never break promises to yourself or others, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions, and always do your best. Ivey admits that while the first three agreements might be challenging, striving for them is beneficial. He also shared a personal anecdote about a PokerStars meeting where everyone arrived on time except for Ike Haxton, who was six minutes late. Ivey's question to Haxton about his tardiness led to everyone arriving on time for subsequent meetings.

When it comes to music, Ivey's favorite song to listen to on repeat is Redemption Song by Bob Marley. He also revealed his favorite place to play poker is the PokerGO studio in Aria, praising its excellent facilities and atmosphere. However, Ivey expressed his dislike for all-in hands in poker, stating that he finds them incredibly boring and prefers post-flop play.
